Welcome to the Official website of the

 Indianapolis Firefighters Emerald Society

Our Indianapolis chapter, established in 1994, is comprised of firefighters from the Indianapolis Metropolitan area.  Although the Society was originally established by Professional firefighters of Irish heritage, today the Emerald Society membership is open to all firefighters regardless of family lineage or gender.  Chapters exist in many large fire departments with the intent to promote goodwill and comaraderie among it's members.

We are currently 334 members strong and are always looking for new members to join our brotherhood.  If you think you might be interested, come and bring a friend to any of our Regular Business meeting's posted on our on line calendar or just print the Application from this website and mail it in.

Meeting Agenda

Tickets will go on sale to members at this meeting for the Notre Dame bus trip Sep. 30

  1. Notre Dame Books are in and ready to be sold. Will be available at our monthly meeting on Thursday or you can call Tom Miller @ 20’s A or cell 627-1046 to get your books. If you are not familiar with what a Notre Dame book is, it’s a fundraiser for our Emerald Society. You simply purchase a book for $20.00 and you have 18 chances to win $50.00 depending on the outcome of the Notre Dame Football Score and the numbers in your book. This fundraiser has been around for 15 years or since the inception of the Indianapolis Firefighters Emerald Society in 1994.

  1. Membership Cards are in and will be available at this Thursday meeting.

  1. A big thank you to Capt. Danny Feeney and all members of IFD Station 15 for the donation of a refrigerator to the Indianapolis Emerald Society. This was a very generous gift and Capt. Feeney stated the vote in the firehouse was unanimous to donate a refrigerator to the society. Your adult beverages, water & pop are all teeth crackling cold now and waiting for you at old station 12. If you run into any member from station 15 out on the street, please thank them for the donation.

David J. Newsom Memorial Golf Outing

We are holding a golf outing fundraising event for the surviving family of David J. Newsom to help with financial hardship following a sudden tragic car accident that took David’s young life in May, 2010. David was a new father, husband, friend, and firefighter who served the Indianapolis community with the Franklin Township Fire Department for eight years. He also enjoyed the game of golf. Dave left behind a wife and two month old daughter.

This golf fundraiser will be held at the Links Golf Club located southeast of Indianapolis on September 18th, 2010. We are seeking sponsorships and/or donations to make this a successful and honorable event. We are estimating 100-150 participants for this event to include firefighters, police, emergency services, and other government representatives. There will be a buffet reception with raffles, prizes, and silent auction.

Hole sponsorship will include your organization name on a custom sign at a tee box. A beverage cart sponsorship will include your organization name on a custom sign and displayed on both sides of a cart. An event sponsorship will include your organization name/logo on a large custom sign at the event registration table and reception. Closest to the pin, putting contest, and hole in one will also include your organization name/logo. We would be grateful if you helped in sponsoring our event. If your organization would like to sponsor or make a donation for our event, please contact me by Wednesday, September 1st, using the information listed below.

To sponsor a hole: $100.00 Closest to the Pin: $200.00

To sponsor a beverage cart: $200.00 Putting contest: $200.00

To sponsor the event: $300.00 Hole in One: $300.00

An Irish Blessing

(A Blessing from St. Patrick)

May the road rise to meet you,

May the wind always be at your back,

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

May the rains fall soft upon your fields,

And, until we meet again,

May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.
